Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s short term international volunteer program that brings people together to build and improve homes, and the health and wellbeing of families and communities.
Habitat for Humanity is one of the world’s largest not-for-profit providers of housing for vulnerable families. Habitat works to break the cycle of poverty for good by working with families and communities to develop long term, sustainable solutions that offer “a hand up, not a hand out”.
Global Village builds run for 7 days, including time for rest, relaxation and exploring the country. Before you leave, you’ll receive an itinerary outlining your stay and what you will be doing.
You might like to combine your build trip with travel to other overseas destinations.
Anyone aged 15 years old or above can join our builds. All you need is a reasonable level of fitness, an open mind, and a willingness to get your hands dirty. No building experience required!
Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Registration Fee: $200
This covers medical and evacuation insurance, your online fundraising page and a build pack to get you on your way.
Fundraising: $1,800
This program donation allows Habitat for Humanity to fund our mission in countries where resources are very limited. Your donations go towards building houses for families in need, but that’s not all! They also go towards funding education and literacy programs, microfinance programs and financial literacy training, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – education and infrastructure around hygiene, such as building toilets and wells), women’s empowerment workshops and more. Without this financial support, Habitat would not be able to maintain its life-changing programs.
The Global Village team will create an online fundraising page for you, and will support you throughout your fundraising journey.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
In-country expenses: Estimated between $780 – $1,000
These expenses can be fundraised separately, and will cover your accommodation, meals, bottled water, ground transportation and local activities for the week.
Flights, visa, vaccinations, additional travel insurance and personal expenses are not included in your Global Village trip costs.
Habitat for Humanity Australia, our trained Team Leaders and our in-country partners will support you every step of the way, from registration to build completion.
